SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist men's soccer will put a four-match winning streak on the line when they travel to Denver, Colorado to face Johnson & Wales in a non-conference match Saturday evening.
Â
The Bison have been dominating opponents recently, posting three straight shutout wins and outscoring the opposition 14-2 during the current unbeaten streak. OBU is seeking their first five-match winning streak since 2009.
Â
Thomas Ackernecht has posted back-to-back shutouts for the Bison, with
Colin Spencer picking up his first shutout of the year in the win over Jarvis Christian Monday. The three shutouts are the most in a season for OBU since 2011, when the Bison blanked four opponents.
Â
Vicente Castillo has powered the Oklahoma Baptist offense with eight goals and four assists, both tops in the GAC.
Jared Hill has contributed goals in each of his last two appearances. OBU is averaging 2.55 goals per match, while limiting their counterparts to 1.91 goals per contest.
Â
Much of the success on both sides of the pitch can be attributed to a solid Bison defense.
Luis Romero and
Matthew Giudice have taken GAC Defensive Player of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks.
Â
This will kick off three straight road matches for the Bison, their longest road trip of the season. Oklahoma Baptist will look to win away from the OBU Soccer Complex for the first time this season, as all six wins have come in friendly territory.
