Match Notes

SHAWNEE – Following a 4-0 demolition of rival Southern Nazarene on Saturday night, Oklahoma Baptist turns it sights to a non-conference meeting with Jarvis Christian College on Monday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. at the OBU Soccer Complex. The contest wraps up a four-game homestand for the Bison.

Oklahoma Baptist (5-4-1) is riding their first three-game win streak since 2014, and will look to make it four straight against the Bulldogs. The Bison continue to set the standard in offensive production for the Great American Conference, averaging 2.5 goals per match. Vicente Castillo leads the team and league with seven goals and four assists, while Thiago Dos Santos is second on the team with four goals. Four other Bison have scored at least two goals.

The defense, marshalled by David Estrada, has strung together back-to-back clean sheets for the first time since 2011, thanks in large part to the goalkeeping prowess of Thomas Ackernecht. The junior holds a 1.00 goals-against average while leading the GAC with a .857 save percentage. Oklahoma Baptist's defense has also been generating its share of offense, as Matthew Giudice has tallied three goals this season.

Jarvis Christian (2-8) is mired in a three-game losing skid. A stagnant offense to start the season, there's been signs of life as they've scored in four of their last five outings, led by Ricardo Zuniga and Jeremiah Taylor with two goals each. Luis Ledezma has started all 10 matches in goal for the Bulldogs, posting a 3.36 GAA and .663 save percentage.

Following the conclusion of Monday's match, OBU will head to Denver, Colorado, to take on Johnson & Wales on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m.
