SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist faces Harding on the road Friday with the chance to clinch first place in the Great American Conference regular season. A win or a tie with HU would seal the title for OBU.
Â
The Bison enter Friday's match on a six match winning streak, the longest streak since the 2010 season. Harding was the last team to score a goal on the Bison back on Sept. 22. Since then OBU has ripped off five consecutive shutouts, setting a new program record.
Â
Vicente Castillo leads the highest scoring offense in the GAC, and his 20 total points this season rank first in the conference.
Thomas Ackernecht is the top keeper in the league, lowering his goals-allowed average to 0.77.
Â
Jared Hill has scored a goal in three of the last four matches, and
Thiago Dos Santos scored the game-winner against Ouachita Wednesday for his fifth goal of the season.
Â
After taking GAC Defender of the Week honors earlier this week,
David Estrada helped to shut down the Tigers Wednesday and anchor one of the toughest back lines in the conference.
Â
Harding enters the match after winning two straight contests. Matheus Ribeiro has scored five goals to lead the Bisons, and Michael Wasson has allowed nine goals all season.
Â
Oklahoma Baptist took down Hardin 4-2 in the first meeting earlier this season.
