Bison Fall at Southwestern

WEATHERFORD – Steven Green had a career-high 33 points but Oklahoma Baptist lost at Southwestern Oklahoma State 82-70 Saturday.

The Bison got 18 points in the first half from Green but the team missed 15 three-pointers in the half and trailed 39-31 at intermission.


Southwestern scored first in the second half for a 41-31 lead. The Bison cut the Bulldog lead to three on two occasions in the first four minutes of the half.

The Bulldogs led by 10 with 12 minutes to go. Jansen Hight hit a three-pointer with 9:32 left and Green scored on a drive against a double-team to make it 61-59 with 8:35 to play.

Hight added a three-pointer with eight minutes left to give the Bison its first lead of the second half, 62-61.

Southwestern answered with a Markeise Champion three-pointer for a 64-62 lead with 7:48 to go to start an 11-0 run while the Bison went 0-3 with three turnovers.

Green hit 13 of 23 field goals for his 33 points and shared high-rebound honors for the team at eight with Vladimir Nemcok.

Nemcok also had a dozen points and nine assists. Chandler Rickey added 10 points and two blocked shots.

Martell Collins led SOWSU with 29 points with Champion throwing in 22.

OBU returns to action Thursday at Ouachita Baptist to start a two-game stay in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
