Lady Bison Knock Off Rangers

Oklahoma Baptist used a tough defense to end a mini-slump with a 77-51 against Northwestern Oklahoma State Thursday.

OBU out-rebounded their guests 46-23 for the game and limited the Rangers to 23 percent shooting in the second half.

"We put four quarters of defense together and when we do that, we are a tough team to beat," said Bays. "Defense has lost us our last couple of games. We kept them out of the paint and that was key for rebounds."

Kiara Moore had four steals to lead a 14-theft night for the OBU defense.

The Lady Bison also got some nice offensive numbers, shooting 47 percent from three-point range. Tasha Edge had 17 points to go with eight rebounds and five assists. Cameerah Graves added 11 points and Lexi Williams and Arielle Cooper added 10 apiece.

OBU trailed with 1:35 left in the first quarter but Katy Custer and Raquel Dudzevich answered with baskets to close the quarter with a 15-12 lead. McKenzie Cooper knocked down a three-pointer to open the second quarter and OBU never trailed again.

Graves scored with four seconds left to give OBU its largest lead of the half at 40-28.

The Lady Bison led by as many as 34 points in the fourth quarter.

Now 7-9 overall and 5-5 in the Great American Conference, the Lady Bison play at Southwestern Oklahoma State Saturday at noon.
