Oklahoma Baptist punched down 62 kills in a four-set Great American Conference win over Southeastern Oklahoma State Tuesday in Shawnee, 25-22, 25-18, 18-25, 25-19.

Carey Strong had 16 kills, followed by Cat Roth with 15 and Denise Coroiescu with 13 to lead OBU, while Kynnedy Myers had 49 assists and two aces.

Roth and Nichole Fleitman were in on two blocks each, while Kaitlyn Lucy came up with 30 digs, followed by Shekinah Sharpe with 19 and Strong with 15.

Abby Jameson led SOSU with 16 kills.

The Lady Bison fell behind 5-0 in the first set, but Strong got two kills to lead the team back to a 5-5 tie.

Roth came up with back-to-back kills and then added a solo block to finish a 4-0 run to give the Lady Bison a 17-14 lead. OBU led by as much as 24-19, but the Savage Storm got as close as 24-22 before Strong ended it with a kill.

OBU used an 8-2 run in the middle of the second set to get some separation and went on to the 25-18 victory.

Southeastern ended an 11-set losing streak in the third set, but the Lady Bison closed out the match, using a mid-set 9-0 run to gain a 17-7 lead. Strong had two kills and both Fleitman and Myers had a kill and block assist each in the run.

Now 7-7 overall and 2-0 in the GAC, the Lady Bison play at Southern Nazarene Thursday night at 7 p.m.

Southeastern falls to 2-10 on the season and 0-2 in the GAC.
