Southwestern Oklahoma State rallied from down two sets to force a fifth set, but the Lady Bison overpowered the Bulldogs for the 3-2 win.
OBU won 25-22, 27-25, 22-25, 23-25, 15-6.
Southwestern and OBU played a tight first set and faced a 22-22 deadlock before Kate Decker got a kill and an ace before Priscila Mendes ended the set with a kill for a 25-22 win.
Down 21-17 in the second set, OBU got a block from Mendes and Nicole Fleitman, a Carey Strong kill and back-to-back aces by Kynnedy Myers to tie the game. Southwestern took a 22-21 lead, but OBU tied things at 25-25 before Decker got a kill and OBU got the benefit of an attack error for the win, 27-25.
Up 20-19 in the third set, OBU surrendered four straight points and couldn't rally back.
OBU was up 6-1 and 17-14 in the fourth set, but another four-point SWOSU rally made it 18-17 and the Bulldogs held on for the win.
The Lady Bison came out strong in the fifth set, opening with a block by Myers and Roth to trigger a 6-0 start. Roth and Myers added kills, Mendes two kills and Decker an ace for the 6-point start.
Southwestern clawed to within 10-6, but OBU scored the last five points for the match.
OBU players put together some strong individual numbers. Roth had 14 kills and six blocks, Fleitman had 10 kills and five blocks, Decker had 13 kills, three aces and three blocks, Strong had 13 kills and 23 digs, Mendes had 14 kills, Myers had 55 assists, 17 digs and five aces, Kaitlyn Lucy added 37 digs and Taylor Bunger contributed a dozen digs.
Carly Zak had 21 kills to lead SWOSU.
OBU improved to 17-11 overall and 12-2 in the Great American Conference with the win. The Lady Bison return to action Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Southeastern Oklahoma State.
