Zac Rogers

Heading into his third season on Jason Eaker’s staff, Rogers has been a part of both NCAA Tournament teams for the Bison. Rogers is the Recruiting Coordinator and Head Strength Coach.

In 2020-21, Rogers’ second year in Shawnee, the Bison produced their most successful season in their short NCAA history by gaining their first NCAA Tournament victory. The 16-6 Bison won the Western Division GAC Championship before bowing out to Lubbock Christian in the second round.

Rogers’ impact has been felt in the two incoming recruiting classes as he has helped the Bison sign the likes of Jordan Thompson (ranked #11 recruit Oklahoma in 2020, 1,000 point scorer) and D.J. Freeman (#9 ranked recruit in Oklahoma in 2021, 21.3 PPG, 12.4 REB senior season) - the second and first highest ranked Division 2 signees in their respective classes. Along with Burke Putnam - a 1,000 point collegiate scorer from Valdosta State transfer by way of Connors State College, where Rogers originally led the recruitment of Putnam out of high school.

Rogers was officially hired on August 5th, 2019, leading into the Bison’s 22-9 season that ended via Covid-19.

Rogers joined the OBU staff as an assistant coach following one season as an assistant at Midwestern State under Nelson Haggerty, and three at the same position at Connors State College. Connors State went 84-16 in those three seasons, including three OCAC Championships, trips to the NJCAA Elite 8 and Sweet 16.  During that span, Connors produced seven players that went on to play at the Division-I level, as well as six Division-II players. Rogers’ last season, he coached and led with player development of current Washington Wizards guard, Mason Jones.

In his eight year career, Rogers has coached three future NBA players (Buddy Hield, Isaiah Cousins, Mason Jones), three future G-League players (Jordan Woodard, Je’lon Hornbeak, Khadeem Lattin), along with nine future overseas players.

Beginning his career as a Graduate Assistant for legendary Coach Lon Kruger at the University of Oklahoma. The Sooners made back to back NCAA Tournament appearances, advancing to the Sweet 16 in 2015. The Sooners were undefeated against Texas and Oklahoma State in those two years, beat Kansas in Norman, and finished Runner-Up in the Battle 4 Atlantis.

A native of Vian, Oklahoma - Rogers played at Wayland Baptist University under Coach Robert Davenport before transferring to Oklahoma Wesleyan University, where the Eagles went 80-21 while going to the NAIA Fab Four and Elite Eight. Rogers earned his Master’s Degree from the University of Oklahoma in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration.
