Roberts began his tenure at OBU after spending last season at Oklahoma State as a football student assistant. In the spring of 2022, he was the defensive/offensive line and outside linebackers coach for the SoCal Coyotes, a developmental pro football program in California.

From 2018-2021, Roberts coached at the College of the Desert in Palm Desert, California. As the defensive line coach in 2019, Roberts' squad was the top-rated defensive line in the nation at the junior college level after leading the state in sacks (49). The following season, he was named the Defensive Coordinator and saw his D-line produce 27 sacks in 2021. 

Roberts received a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in May of 2022 from Nicholls State University, where he played on the defensive line in 2014 after earning a scholarship. He amassed 15 tackles and 1.5 tackles-for-loss in eight games with the Colonels.

Prior to, he played two seasons at the College of the Desert and earned All-Conference honors as a sophomore. He is a 2012 graduate of Palm Desert High School where he was a three-year starter on the defensive line. Furthermore, Roberts garnered two All-Conference selections and was named one of the Desert Sun Top-10 Players in the Coachella Valley during his junior and senior seasons.
