Ray Watkins was named cornerbacks coach at OBU in July 2019 following a one year stint as a graduate assistant coach at Black Hills State University working primarily with the defensive backs.

Prior to Black Hills State, Watkins played wide receiver in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference at Minot State University, in Minot, North Dakota. He played five seasons for the Beavers, and in 2016 and 2017 he helped MSU tie its team record for wins in a season during the program's NCAA Division II era.

A native of Melbourne, Florida, Watkins earned his degree from MSU in Physical Education, in 2018.
