Daniel Eaton was in June of 2019 as a wide receivers coach and has since been elevated to Offensive Coordinator (Spring of 2021). He enters his sixth season on Bison Hill.Â
OBU has risen to one of the most prominent offenses in the conference and country under Eaton's leadership. He has coached four All-Americans, six All-Region selections, and 15 All-GAC honorees. Eaton also saw quarterback Preston Haire collect the GAC's Offensive Player of the Year award in back-to-back seasons (2019, 2021). Furthermore, three Bison hve signed major professional contracts, such as wideout Keilahn Harris who inked a unrestricted free agent agreement with the Atlanta Falcons in 2023. Additionally, Haire signed with the European Football League's Hamburg Sea Devils and offensive lineman Jake Foshee accepted a deal with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. Haire also received a rookie mini camp invite from the New Orleans Saints in 2022.
A season ago (2023), the Bison offense averaged 310.0 yards per game and saw three players collect all conference honors. Of those were wide receivers Nick Harris, who led the GAC in touchdowns, and Michael Marshall. Additionally, Jake Sitsler became the second offensive lineman to garner the league's recognition under Eaton's tutelage. Oklahoma Baptist finished as the third-best passing offense in the league (226.3 yds/gm) and third in passing touchdowns (22).Â
In 2022, he coached Harris to his second consecutive 1,000-yard season, the third occurrence from a Bison wideout with Eaton at the helm.Â
OBU finished top-15 in the country in total offense and points per game in his first year of calling plays (2021). The Bison offense also finished fourth in Division II in third-down percentage, fifth in red-zone percentage and second in first downs. Haire threw for a career-best 3,356 yards while setting program records for passing touchdowns (41), completions (315), and yards per game (279.7).

Within the wide receivers’ room in the 2021 season were two All-America selections: Josh Cornell and Harris. Both were among the best in the country in multiple categories which included each recording over 1,000 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns. Harris would go on to be named a D2CCA All-American. Running back Tyler Stuever ran for 1,247 yards and 10 touchdowns en route to being named an All-American.
That offense would go on to set the following school records:Â total offense per game (DII - 447.2), passing yards per game (279.7), completions (322), passing yards (3,435), passing touchdowns (41), total offense (5,372), passing touchdowns (41), first downs (313), passing first downs (170), and fewest fumbles lost (2).

In his first season on Bison Hill as the wide receivers coach, Eaton oversaw an up-and-coming receiving corps that showed continued improvement over the course of the season. Cornell, a redshirt sophomore at the time, led OBU with 74 receptions for 1,054 yards and 10 touchdowns – each of which was the most in a single season in school history at the time. Cornell went on to win conference and national honors. Noah McGraw also finished with All-Conference honors to close his career as one of the top receivers in school history.
While at Black Hills State, Eaton mentored wideout Kielar Harpham who was a All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference selection in 2018.
Eaton began his coaching career at Harker High School in San Jose, California, where he was the wide receivers coach and offensive coordinator, as well as director of recruiting.
A native of Los Altos, California, Eaton played Division I football at UCLA from 2012-16.
