ALVA, OK – Devan Daniels ran for a season-high 116 yards and two scores, Brady Bricker threw for 317 yards and a score, and Oklahoma Baptist football rolled over Northwestern Oklahoma State, 55-37, in a delay-plagued Great American Conference contest on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Ranger Field.

The start of the game was delayed two and a half hours due to severe weather in the area, and went into another delay with 6:53 to go in the game before being called early due to the threat of more severe weather.

The Bison (2-1, 2-1 GAC) put together their best offensive performance in four years to win their second-straight game against the Rangers (0-3, 0-3 GAC). OBU put up more than 500 yards of total offense and scored 31 first-half points to bounce back in emphatic fashion after last week's loss at Henderson State.

Oklahoma Baptist set the tone early with a 13-play, 80-yard drive that spanned 5:36 and was capped off by a Haven Lysell two-yard rush to go up 7-0. Northwestern answered with its own touchdown drive on the next possession, but Bryce Starlin blocked the extra point to keep the Bison in front by one (7-6).

The teams traded touchdown drives over the next four possessions, with OBU scoring on a five-yard rush by Jason Ceniti before Devan Daniels broke free for a 43-yard touchdown run with 11:49 to go in the second quarter.

With the score at 21-20, Justin Pascone punched it into the end zone from four yards out to make it 28-20 with 1:05 left in the first half, and Carter Lowry connected on a 48-yard field goal to end the half and give Oklahoma Baptist a 31-20 halftime lead. The field goal was the 14th of his career, making him the program's all-time leader in career field goals.

The Rangers hit a field goal on their opening possession of the second half to cut the deficit to eight (31-23), but the Bison answered with a four-yard pass from Bricker to Nick Harris at the 7:24 mark of the third quarter to stretch the lead to 38-23. 

Northwestern put itself back in the game with a 13-yard touchdown from quarterback Jacob T. Jones late in the third quarter to make it 38-30, but Daniels put the hammer down when he broke loose for a 48-yard touchdown with 21 seconds remaining in the quarter to push the lead back to 15 points (45-30). 

The Rangers scored another touchdown in the fourth quarter to make it 45-37 early in the period, but Pascone scored another touchdown to make it 52-37 and Lowry drilled a 36-yard field goal with 6:53 remaining in the game to give the Bison a 55-37 lead.

That's when officials signaled that the game would go into a weather delay for a second time, and the teams never returned to the field.

OBU finished with 546 yards of total offense, including 334 through the air and 212 on the ground. The Bison averaged 7.9 yards per carry and had five different players score a touchdown for the second time this season. Bricker finished 30-of-3 6 (83.3 percent) for 317 yards and a touchdown, while Jacob Trimble hauled in nine receptions for 118 yards.

Northwestern had 445 yards of total offense, passing for 275 and rushing for 170. Jones was 19-of-24 for 275 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed for a team-high 90 and another score.

Defensively the Bison were led by Brady Luff, who had 10 tackles, while Jeremiah Jennings had two sacks. Casen Olson and Aiden Lewis each tallied 11 stops for the Rangers.

Oklahoma Baptist returns home to take on Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. for Kid's Day at Crain Family Stadium.
