ALVA - Behind a pair of first-half goals and a standout performance in net, Northwestern Oklahoma State remained unbeaten in conference play with a 2-0 victory over Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday at the Alva Rec Complex.

The Rangers improved to 6-1-1 overall and 2-0 in GAC competition, while the Bison dropped to 1-6-0 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Northwestern wasted little time creating opportunities and broke through in the 19th minute when Cambell Tabor finished a pass from Jenna Mills to give the Rangers a 1-0 advantage at the 18:49 mark. Just over five minutes later, NWOSU doubled its lead as Jazelle Alvarado found the back of the net off an assist from Katy Jo Werner.

The Rangers carried the 2-0 lead into halftime and relied on a strong defensive effort to preserve the shutout over the final 45 minutes. Despite being outshot 21-16, the Rangers consistently turned away Oklahoma Baptist chances throughout the second stanza.

Goalkeeper Taylor Annen was the difference maker for the Rangers, recording eight saves while posting her fourth clean sheet. Seven of those saves came after intermission as OBU pushed for a breakthrough.

The Bison generated eight shots on goal, led by five-shot performances from Hope White and Camden Ocheskey, but could not solve Annen. Goalkeeper Makenzie Christian finished with four saves for the Bison.

Northwestern held advantages in corner kicks (6-4) and made the most of its scoring chances, placing six shots on goal. The Rangers' defense limited Oklahoma Baptist to a scoreless afternoon and secured the program's second consecutive conference victory.
