SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist (1-5, 0-1 GAC), coming off a hard-fought, 2-1 defeat at Southwestern Oklahoma State this past Wednesday, returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Alva to face Northwestern (5-1-1, 1-0 GAC) at 11 a.m.
OBU has dominated the series with the Rangers. In fact, over the span of 33 matches, the Bison have won 23. However, NWOSU has won the last two matches in a row. The last time that happened was in 2004 when the team from Alva won by 3-0 and 1-0 tallies.
As for the Rangers in 2026, they last played Southern Nazarene on Sept. 16 and won by a 3-0 score.
Here are notes on both squads.
For the Bison:
After being held scoreless in their opening two games, the Bison have scored in four straight.
Camden Ocheskey has two of the team's five goals while
Hope White,
Hali White and
Addison Gray have the others.
The Bison still have some work to do in challenging opponents. Through six matches, the team's 9.0 shots per game is sixth out of seven GAC schools.
Freshman defender
Ryann Phillips has helped facilitate a couple of these scoring opportunities with two assists this fall. She's tied atop the GAC leaderboard with Harding's Blair Rowlett and East Central's Jalynne Campbell.
Defensively, sophomore keeper
Makenzie Christian is second in saves per game (7.0). She's coming off a season-high, 11-save performance at SWOSU.
However, the team is allowing 3.00 goals per game to opponents. That's also sixth out of seven in the conference.
For the Rangers:
NWOSU has been very effective on offense to date. In fact, they've scored in six of seven matches and have tallied 10 goals overall. That total ranks second in the GAC.
Two players have scored multiple times: Cambell Tabor (3) and Katy Jo Werner (2). Tabor's count is slotted second in the league.
Also of note, Jazelle Alvarado and Mylee Yuill each have one goal and one assist.
Two goalkeepers have started multiple matches for Northwestern. Taylor Annen has four starts while Alexa Flores has earned three. Each have a goals against average mark no greater than 0.50.
For Annen, her .939 save percentage and three shutouts are ranked atop the GAC. Plus, her save percentage is a top-22 NCAA mark.
