SHAWNEE — Oklahoma Baptist opened the 2026 season Thursday night with a 5-0 loss to Midwestern State at the OBU Soccer Complex.

The Mustangs wasted little time taking control, scoring three times in the opening 10 minutes. Annabella Pillow opened the scoring in the fifth minute, with Lexi Gonzales providing the assist. Ella Adams doubled the advantage less than two minutes later before Allie Cifuentes found the net in the ninth minute.

Midwestern State continued to pressure the Bison attack, adding another goal in the 27th minute when McKynzi Hailey scored off an assist from Sloane Sullivan. The Mustangs carried a 4-0 advantage into halftime.

The visitors added another goal in the 59th minute when Gonzales converted a penalty kick after a Bison hand ball in the box.  

Midwestern State finished the night with a 28-3 advantage in shots and put 11 attempts on frame. Oklahoma Baptist was unable to register a shot on goal. The Mustangs also held a 7-0 edge in corner kicks.

OBU goalkeeper Jolee King made four saves during the opening half, while Emilia Gallego recorded two saves after halftime. The Bison offense recorded shots from Ajae Belliston, Addison Gray and Camden Ocheskey.

The Bison return to action looking to bounce back from Thursday's season-opening defeat with another home match on Sept. 2 against UT Dallas.
