Shaffer, Kelln Deliver In Doubleheader Sweep

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — No. 17 Oklahoma Baptist earned a key Great American Conference road sweep Friday at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex, shutting out Arkansas Tech 2–0 in the opener before edging the Golden Suns 3–2 in the nightcap. The wins lifted the Bison to 36–10 overall and 22–4 in GAC play.

Game 1 — Oklahoma Baptist 2, Arkansas Tech 0
The opener featured a tight pitcher's duel until Oklahoma Baptist broke through in the third inning. Alexah Reyes reached base and advanced into scoring position before Kaley Cook lined a single. Katelyn Kilgore followed with an RBI single to center field to give the Bison a 1–0 lead.

OBU added an insurance run in the sixth. Greenlee Wells was hit by a pitch and later scored on a groundout combined with a defensive miscue, extending the margin to 2–0.

Jaycee Shaffer was outstanding in the circle, tossing a complete‑game shutout. She allowed five hits, issued two walks, and struck out four to earn her 19th win of the season.

Game 2 — Oklahoma Baptist 3, Arkansas Tech 2
The Bison struck early in the second inning of the nightcap. Ally Ryan reached base and Nichelle Marshall drew a walk before Haley Hacker laid down a sacrifice bunt. Abby Laskowski then delivered a two‑run single, and Cook followed later in the inning with an RBI single to give OBU a 3–0 lead.

Arkansas Tech responded in the bottom of the inning, scoring twice on a two‑RBI single from Aaliyah Dixon to cut the deficit to one.

Jaycee Kelln steadied the game in the circle from there, allowing just two total runs over seven innings. She struck out three and improved to 13–4 on the season.

Oklahoma Baptist's defense shut the door late, stranding runners in scoring position in both the sixth and seventh innings to complete the sweep.

Notable performers included Laskowski's two‑RBI hit in Game 2, Cook driving in runs in both contests, and shutdown pitching from Shaffer and Kelln across the doubleheader.
