TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Oklahoma Baptist dropped both games of Tuesday's road doubleheader at Northeastern State, falling 5–1 in the opener before a walk‑off rally handed the RiverHawks a 5–4 victory in Game 2 at RiverHawks Park. The losses move the Bison to 34–10 on the season, while Northeastern State improved to 26–17.
Game 1 — Northeastern State 5, Oklahoma Baptist 1
Northeastern State struck early and rode strong pitching to take the opener. After a scoreless top of the first, the RiverHawks erupted for five runs in the bottom of the inning. Emily Carpenter reached and advanced into scoring position before Annsleigh Morris laid down a run‑scoring bunt. Moments later, Madison Nance delivered the decisive blow, launching a grand slam to right‑center to give NSU a 5–0 lead.
Oklahoma Baptist managed to put runners on base throughout the game, drawing three walks from
Greenlee Wells and collecting hits from
Kaley Cook,
Katelyn Kilgore,
Haley Hacker, and
Alexah Reyes. The Bison plated their lone run in the fifth when
Keirstin Briggs scored on an RBI walk from Wells.
Brooke Wyatt earned the win for Northeastern State, while Jensyn Elder closed the final three innings to earn the save.
Jaycee Shaffer took the loss for OBU, striking out five over five innings.
Game 2 — Northeastern State 5, Oklahoma Baptist 4
The nightcap was tightly contested throughout. Oklahoma Baptist struck first as
Kaley Cook scored on a sacrifice fly from
Ally Ryan in the opening frame, but Northeastern answered quickly on an RBI single from Annsleigh Morris.
OBU regained the lead in the second on an RBI single from Cook, but Northeastern tied the game on a wild pitch. The RiverHawks moved in front in the fifth when Morgan Coryell scored on a throwing error.
The Bison rallied in the sixth as
Haley Hacker and
Keirstin Briggs reached base before
Katelyn Kilgore delivered a two‑run single to put OBU back in front, 4–3. Kilgore has 6 RBI in the last three games.
Northeastern State responded in the bottom of the seventh. Morris doubled home the tying run before Halle Hance followed with a walk‑off RBI double to seal the sweep.
Gracie Turner picked up the win in relief for NSU, while
Jaycee Kelln, who struck out ten batters in 5.2 innings, was charged with the loss.
