ADA -- East Central rallied late to defeat Oklahoma Baptist 9–6 on Monday in Ada, using a five-run eighth inning to erase a late deficit and secure the series finale.
The Bison (10-10, 5-7 GAC) seized momentum midway through the game, scoring five runs in the fourth to turn a 2–1 deficit into a 6–2 lead. OBU strung together timely hits during the surge, highlighted by a two-RBI triple from
Quinn Johnson and a two-run double off the bat of
Keenan Morris. A wild pitch also allowed a run to score as OBU briefly took control of the contest.
East Central (6-14, 4-8 GAC) responded in the bottom half of the fourth when Logan Jeske launched a two-run homer to cut the deficit to 6–4. From there, the Tigers chipped away and eventually delivered the decisive blow in the eighth inning.
After a pair of doubles plated one run to make it 6–5, ECU loaded the bases. Pinch hitter Blake Seefeldt then broke the game open with a grand slam to left field, giving the Tigers a 9–6 advantage they would not relinquish.
Morris led the Bison offensively, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs nd a double. Johnson added two RBI and scored twice, while
Ben Green recorded a hit and scored a run.
On the mound,
Logan Wade started for OBU and allowed four runs over 3.1 innings while striking out four.
Teagon Standlee provided 3.1 scoreless innings in relief before East Central's late rally.
Luis Pezzotti was charged with the loss.
East Central collected 13 hits in the win, with Joey Allen leading the way with three hits.
Evan Groh closed the door in the ninth to earn the save as the Tigers completed the comeback victory.
Next on the schedule for OBU is a road date with Henderson State on March 13.
