Bison Take Doubleheader From Tigers

SHAWNEE, Okla. — Oklahoma Baptist kept rolling Saturday with a pair of home wins over East Central, taking the opener 5–1 and capping the day with a 9–0 (5 inn.) run-rule to complete the doubleheader sweep. Jaycee Shaffer tossed a complete-game gem in Game 1 before Jaycee Kelln and Chloe Randall combined on a three-hit shutout in Game 2, while Greenlee Wells powered the offense with extra-base damage in both contests.

Game 1 — Oklahoma Baptist 5, East Central 1
Oklahoma Baptist struck immediately in the first as Kaley Cook led off with a double and scored on Wells' RBI single to right for a 1–0 lead. Wells promptly swiped second to set the tone on the bases.
After a scoreless second, the Bison separated in the third. Alexah Reyes reached on a hit-by-pitch, Wells and Ally Ryan drew walks, and Nichelle Marshall split the gap with an RBI double before Haley Hacker lifted a sacrifice fly to make it 3–0.
OBU added two more in the fifth when Wells tripled down the right-field line and scored on Hacker's RBI double, then Kiley Long followed with a run-scoring double to push the margin to 5–0.
In the circle, Shaffer was in command throughout, spinning a complete game with 8 strikeouts, six hits allowed, and no walks; ECU's lone tally came in the seventh on a two-out RBI double by Katelin Keller. Final: OBU 5, ECU 1.

Game 2 — Oklahoma Baptist 9, East Central 0 (5 inn.)
OBU pounced in the first again. Cook singled and stole second before Reyes beat out an infield single; Wells then crushed a two-run homer to left for a fast 3–0 cushion.
The Bison duplicated the three-spot in the second, fueled by a Reyes RBI single, a Wells RBI groundout, and a run on a passed ball to make it 6–0.
Wells struck once more in the fourth—this time a three-run shot to center—as Ivy Walker and Reyes came around ahead of her to end it early at 9–0. It gave the senior shortstop two homers and six RBI in the nightcap.
Kelln handled the first four frames (3 H, 0 R) and Randall closed the fifth as OBU finished off the run-rule shutout. Final: OBU 9, ECU 0 (5).
