SHAWNEE, Okla. — Oklahoma Baptist led for six innings Friday night, but Southeastern Oklahoma State erupted for six runs in the seventh to steal an 8–6 victory at the Mabee Field in the Noble Complex. The loss moves the Bison to 28–6, while the Savage Storm improve to 13–19.
OBU jumped ahead immediately in the first, as
Greenlee Wells worked a leadoff walk and stole second before
Alexah Reyes moved her to third on a sacrifice bunt. A throwing error allowed Wells to score, and
Abby Laskowski followed with an RBI single to make it 2–0.
The Bison extended the lead to 4–0 in the second thanks to a rally sparked by
Haley Hacker's single and stolen base.
Kaylee Davis reached on an error, and Reyes later forced in a run with a walk before
Kaley Cook plated another on a fielder's choice.
Laskowski doubled to lead off the third, but Southeastern pitching held OBU off the board that inning and mounted its first response in the fourth. The Storm pushed across a run on a groundout by pitcher Emily Simmons, cutting the margin to 4–1.
OBU added an unearned run in the fourth when Wells walked, stole second, then scored on Cook's sacrifice fly to center, stretching the lead to 5–1. Southeastern chipped back again in the sixth, as Susan Edwards doubled and later scored on an RBI single from Simmons, making it 5–2.
The decisive swing came in the top of the seventh. After Iliana Olivares walked and pinch‑runner Keegan Rowland advanced aboard a Hopkins single, Edwards delivered her third hit of the night to load the bases. With one out, Tally Rowland jumped on the first pitch and launched a go‑ahead grand slam down the left‑field line to put Southeastern ahead 6–5. The Storm added two more on RBIs by Kennedy and Olivares.
OBU fought back in the bottom half. Laskowski logged her third hit of the night, and pinch‑runner
Ivy Walker swiped second and advanced to third on a throwing error.
Katelyn Kilgore singled to right to bring Walker home and cut it to 8–6, but Southeastern closed the door with a flyout to end the game.
Bison have two opportunities to bounce back tomorrow at Noon.
