Bison Take Game One In Arkadelphia

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Oklahoma Baptist stayed perfect in GAC play Friday, riding Jaycee Shaffer's seven‑strikeout complete game and home runs from Jessi Hull and Greenlee Wells to a 4–2 win over Ouachita Baptist at Langston Field. The Bison improved to 27–4 (13–0 GAC) while the Tigers dropped to 8–17 (5–8).

OBU struck first in the opening frame as Kaley Cook led off with a double and, two batters later, Ally Ryan punched a two‑out RBI single up the middle to make it 1–0. Hull extended the margin in the second, turning on a 2–1 pitch for a solo shot to right‑center. Ouachita got on the board in the fourth on Jordyn Merrett's sacrifice fly that brought home Addison Davidson, but Shaffer left two aboard to preserve a 2–1 lead.

The Bison answered in the sixth. Wells launched a no‑doubt homer to center, then Ryan singled and Keirstin Briggs entered to run. After Payton Bragg laid down a sacrifice and Haley Hacker moved the runner to third, Hull lined an RBI single to left for a 4–1 cushion. Davidson trimmed it to 4–2 with a sixth‑inning solo homer, but Shaffer closed the door with a clean seventh.

Shaffer was steady wire‑to‑wire, tossing 7.0 innings of six‑hit ball with seven strikeouts against one walk to pick up win No. 15. Ouachita's Catie Amador took the loss despite a complete game (7.0 IP, 11 H, 4 ER).

Cook paced the Bison with a 3‑for‑4 day that included a double and two steals, while Wells went 2‑for‑4 with the solo homer and Hull finished 2‑for‑3 with two RBIs and the go‑ahead blast. Ryan added two hits and the first‑inning RBI. For OUA, Davidson went 2‑for‑3 with the solo homer and two runs, while Merrett tallied the sac fly.
