MANSFIELD, Texas — Oklahoma Baptist capped a perfect weekend Sunday afternoon with a 5–3 win over St. Edward's at the Fields at Station, finishing the weekend 5–0.
The Bison jumped out early, scoring in the bottom of the first.
Kaley Cook was hit by a pitch, stole second, and came home on a sacrifice bunt RBI from
Katelyn Kilgore to give OBU a 1–0 lead.
St. Edward's answered with three runs in the second, highlighted by a solo home run and a two-run single, but Oklahoma Baptist responded immediately. In the bottom half,
Ally Ryan singled before
Haley Hacker launched a two-run homer to center, evening the score at 3–3.
OBU regained the lead in the third when
Greenlee Wells homered to right-center to make it 4–3. The Bison added an insurance run in the fifth as Cook singled, stole second, and scored following aggressive baserunning and pressure on the defense to extend the lead to 5–3.
In the circle,
Jaycee Shaffer earned the win, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out eight over 5.2 innings.
Aubrey Williams closed the door over the final 1.1 frames, holding St. Edward's scoreless to secure the victory.
Offensively, Hacker led the Bison with a two-run home run, while Wells added a solo shot and a stolen base. Cook scored twice and swiped two bags, and
Ally Ryan and
Alexah Reyes each recorded hits as OBU finished with five runs on five hits.
With the victory, Oklahoma Baptist completed a perfect 5–0 weekend, showing strong pitching depth, timely power, and aggressive baserunning throughout tournament play.
