Bison Rally Results in Tie with Rangers

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist (2-8-1, 1-4-1 GAC) earned a 2-2 draw in their match against Northwestern Oklahoma State (7-3-2, 3-2-1 GAC) on Wednesday. After falling behind 1-0 and half and later 2-0 early in the second stanza, the team rallied back to conclude the GAC affair with a 2-2 tie at the OBU Soccer Complex.

Northwestern Oklahoma State struck first when just six minutes into the match, Emma Yosten cornered in an assist to the middle of the box. Cambell Tabor found the ball in traffic and chested in the score to give the Rangers an early 1-0 advantage.

In the 13th minute the Rangers nearly added to the deficit on a high-aimed free kick by Yosten, but goalkeeper Emilia Gallego jumped to collect the save, and the score stayed the same. Neither team found the net for the remainder of the half, sending the teams into halftime with a 1-0 tally.

At the start of the second half, the Rangers increased their lead off a Mylee Yuill shot rolled in from the right side of the net. The score gave the visitors a 2-0 advantage in the 45th minute.

The Bison responded in the 45th minute with their first goal of the night when Annelis Perez kicked the ball out in front of Addison Gray to the right side of the box. Gray curved the shot over the head of the defender and into the back left corner of the net to cut the score to 2-1.

During the 68th minute, the Bison found opportunity once again when Hali White booted in a deep shot from the right side of the field over the head of the goalkeeper. That equalizer was set up on a pass from Clara Martin.

The host Bison had one more shot on goal in the 13 minutes, an attempt from Joana Gomez, however, NWOSU keeper Taylor Annen denied it. The two teams remained scoreless in the final minutes, and the match concluded with a final score of 2-2.

Gomez led OBU with five shot attempts, Gray and White followed with a pair, and Camden Ocheskey and Perez each tallied one. Gallego finished the night with two saves.
