Bison Fall to Harding in Rain-Soaked Game

SHAWNEE – Despite forcing four turnovers, including back-to-back fumbles to start the game, Oklahoma Baptist football fell to #2 Harding 48-10 in Great American Conference action on Saturday, Oct. 31, at Crain Family Stadium at the Hurt Complex.

The Bison (3-6, 3-6 GAC) put the game's first points on the board with Carter Lowry's 37-yard field goal after Harding (9-0, 9-0) fumbled the opening kickoff. HU fumbled again on the ensuing kickoff, but the Harding defense forced an OBU punt before its offense engineered a 14-play, 93-yard touchdown drive that ended with a four-yard run by Malik Young.

Harding missed the point-after attempt, but the miss mattered little as HU scored the game's next 28 points. Andrew Miller scored on touchdown runs of six, two and one yards during the second quarter to give Harding a 27-3 halftime lead.

Josh Strickland Jr. scored on a 17-yard touchdown run on Harding's first possession of the second half before Oklahoma Baptist got back on the scoreboard when Jason Ceniti connected with Jacob Trimble for a 19-yard touchdown with three minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Harding answered with a 21-yard touchdown pass from Camren Cavalier to Mabry Verser 1:30 later and added its final touchdown on Connor Dean's 85-yard interception return with 14:42 remaining, making the final score 48-10.

Ceniti finished 15-of-24 passing for 148 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, while freshman quarterback Jamion Richardson rushed for a team-high 41 yards in his most extensive playing time of the season.

Trimble caught seven passes for 81 yards and a touchdown, extending his streak to four consecutive games with a touchdown reception. Nick Harris added four receptions for 43 yards and moved within 76 yards of 2,000 career receiving yards.

Jonathan Ferguson led all OBU defenders with 11 tackles, Jackson Copeland tallied eight, and Tucker Soriano and Morgan Cobb recorded seven apiece. Cobb also added a tackle for loss, while Soriano, Jordan Garcia and Darrick Hurst each forced a fumble.

Harding finished with a 494-230 advantage in total offense and rushed for 414 yards on 51 attempts, an average of 8.1 yards per carry. The HU defense recorded five sacks and five pass breakups.

Oklahoma Baptist will turn its attention to Arkansas Tech when the Bison travel to face the Wonder Boys in Russellville, Ark., on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 2 p.m. at Simmons Bank Field at Thone Stadium. The Bison will close the 2026 season when they host Southern Nazarene at noon on Saturday, Nov. 14.
