SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist's (2-10-1, 1-6-1, GAC) last Great American Conference road match comes on Saturday, Oct. 24 at East Central (0-15, 0-9 GAC). Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. at Tiger Soccer Field.
Earlier this season on Sept. 29, the Bison won over ECU 2-0 with goals by
Addison Gray and
Joana Gomez. Plus, freshman goalie
Emilia Gallego denied three shots in the shutout.
Below are notes on both teams.
For the Bison:
This is OBU's first match in a week. Last time out, the Bison were dealt a 2-0 road loss to Harding on Oct. 17.
Currently, the Bison are in sixth place with four matches left. To qualify for the GAC Tournament, teams have to be in the top four of the standings. OBU is looking to avoid being left out of the conference's tourney for the second straight year.
Addison Gray is the Bison's top offensive threat. She lands in the top-10 of the GAC in goals scored (3) and shots (2.08). Gray is also seventh in shots on target per match (1.15).
Senior teammate
Hali White has also scored three times and is No. 10 in points (7).
Gallego has started the last four matches in goal for OBU. In that time, she's stopped 17 shots.
In the last matchup with ECU, the Bison recorded 20 shots. That marked just the third time in 13 matches that OBU tallied that many attempts.
For the Tigers:
It's been a tough year in Ada for the Tigers. They are one of only four NCAA D2 teams (out of 254) without a win.
In 13 of 15 matches, they have been defeated by multiple goals. In fact, ECU has been outscored 51-8 this fall.
Plus, ECU is the only team in the GAC not to attempt at least 10.0 shots per game.
Individually, Jalynne Campbell leads the Tigers with five points on one goal and three assists.
As for goal-scorers, Addisyn Brown, Natalia Castaneda and Estrella Hernandez have each scored two goals.
