Coner Jr., Bison Topple Wonder Boys

SHAWNEE – Behind Terry Coner Jr.'s career-high 36 points, Oklahoma Baptist (11-2, 5-2 GAC) defeated Arkansas Tech (4-10, 2-5 GAC) 82-75 on Thursday inside the Noble Complex.

OBU built momentum early behind an explosive performance from Coner Jr., who scored those 36 points on 10 made shots including a half-dozen three-pointers. The junior guard also chipped in with a 10-for-15 showing at the foul line.  

Oklahoma Baptist led 37–30 at halftime after closing the opening period on a late surge capped by a Coner Jr. three in the final 30 seconds. The green and gold shot an efficient 45.5 percent in the opening half.

Arkansas Tech came out aggressive in the second stanza, matching OBU point-for-point for a good chunk of the final 20 minutes. Connor Davis led the Wonder Boys with 23 points, while Devin Foster added 20 on 6-of-10 shooting from downtown. David Elliott IV chipped in 18 points and six assists as Tech shot 50 percent from three-point range in the second half to stay within striking distance.

Despite the push, OBU maintained control with balanced contributions around Coner Jr.'s scoring outburst. Jackson Greene finished with 11 points and six rebounds, while Joshua Udoumoh added eight points and six boards. The Bison won the rebounding battle 39–33 and scored 36 points in the paint, helping offset Arkansas Tech's hot perimeter shooting.

OBU also capitalized at the free-throw line, converting 17-of-24 attempts, including key makes down the stretch to seal the win. Oklahoma Baptist will look to carry the momentum into its next conference matchup which comes on Jan,. 10 at 3 p.m. against Harding University.
