MANSFIELD, TX - Oklahoma Baptist opened the 2026 season with a 5–0 shutout win over Minnesota State Moorhead on Friday morning in Mansfield, Texas. The Bison broke through with a run in the fourth inning and steadily added offense over the final three frames while stifling the Dragons throughout the seven-inning contest.
After three scoreless innings,
Greenlee Wells put Oklahoma Baptist on the board in the bottom of the fourth with a solo home run to deep right field, giving the Bison a 1–0 lead. The advantage grew in the fifth inning as Oklahoma Baptist capitalized on pressure and defensive miscues.
Haley Hacker reached on a walk and scored on a
Kaylee Davis sacrifice bunt that turned into an error, allowing Davis to advance.
Alexah Reyes followed with a bunt single to drive in another run, and Wells later delivered an RBI double down the right-field line to push the margin to 4–0.
The Bison tacked on their final run in the sixth inning when
Kiley Long, pinch running after reaching on an error, came home on Davis' sacrifice fly to right field. Oklahoma Baptist finished with five runs on four hits, drawing four walks and taking advantage of two MSU Moorhead errors.

Jaycee Shaffer earned the win for Oklahoma Baptist, tossing six scoreless innings. She allowed five hits, struck out six, and did not issue a walk while facing 24 batters.
Jaycee Kelln closed out the shutout with a clean seventh inning, striking out one. Minnesota State Moorhead scattered five hits but was unable to bring a runner home, leaving six on base. Lexie Wilson led the Dragons offensively with two hits, while Brynna Farman took the loss despite allowing just one earned run across four innings.
Oklahoma Baptist improves to 1–0 on the season with the shutout victory. They take on UT Dallas Comets next for their second game of the day.
