BETHANY – Oklahoma Baptist continued Great American Conference play with a quick victory, sweeping Southern Nazarene (25-13, 25-15, 25-14) on Tuesday at the Sawyer Center. With the win, the Bison improved to 10-4 on the season.
OBU's attack was efficient all evening, hitting a season-best .337 with 44 total kills. The Bison held SNU to just 22 kills and a .133 hitting percentage, marking one of their strongest defensive outings of the season.
Rylee Unruh powered the offense with 11 kills and an impressive .450 hitting percentage while adding three aces and eight digs.
Lauren Safrit added eight kills, hitting .300.
Allie Stricker also contributed eight kills, while middle blocker
Mackenzie Frazee added four kills and a block assist. Freshman
Lillian Noble provided an offensive spark going a perfect five-for-five with five kills on five attempts.
Setter
Emily Boyer orchestrated the attack with 20 assists and eight digs.
Madi Barnes chipped in 16 assists and two aces as well.
Defensively, libero
Karsyn Hunter anchored the back row with 13 digs as the Bison out-dug SNU 54-43. Frazee and Unruh also contributed at the net with two blocks to slow down SNU's hitters.
The Bison also dominated from the service line, tallying nine aces compared to four by SNU.
OBU never trailed by more than two points in any set and controlled the match from start to finish, showcasing both offensive power and defensive balance.
The Bison will continue Great American Conference play against Southwestern Oklahoma State University on September 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the Noble Complex.
