Bison Volleyball to Visit Southern Nazarene

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist's second Great American Conference match comes on Tuesday when the Bison visit Southern Nazarene for a 6 p.m. contest.

OBU brings a 9-4 record into the match, which includes a 1-0 GAC mark, attained last week at Southeastern Oklahoma State. For the Crimson Storm, they are 4-7. This is their first conference match of the fall.

Historically, the Bison own this matchup. In fact, they lead the series 27-4 and are 13-2 inside the Sawyer Center.

Here are notes on both teams leading into Tuesday night's game.

Bison Notes
  • Allie Stricker has been a strong force offensively through 45 sets played. The middle blocker is sixth in the GAC with 3.20 kills per set. She's recorded at least 10 kills in nine of the last 10 matches.
  • Stricker is also seventh overall in points (3.51).
  • Teammate Rylee Unruh checks in at ninth with 3.41 points per set.
  • Junior Emily Boyer has directed the OBU offense, registering 6.0 assists per set. That's slotted No. 6 in the GAC while her 0.42 aces per set ranks seventh.
  • As a team, the Bison lead the GAC with a .230 attack percentage. They are also second in assists per set (11.62).
  • Defensively, OBU is third in opponent hitting percentage (.164) and blocks per set (2.31).
  • Among others, Madi Barnes and Lillian Noble, two newcomers, have aided OBU. Barnes is second on the team in assists (4.18) while Noble is hitting .337 with 46 kills and 10 service aces.
Crimson Storm Notes
  • SNU has lost five of its last seven matches, each by 3-0 tallies.
  • The Crimson Storm rank eighth in hitting (.176) and are dead last (12th) in opponent kills per match (13.97).
  • Another negative defensively, SNU ranks 11th in digs per set (14.34).
  • Kate Wright leads the team from Bethany with 3.30 kills per set. That's good for fourth in the GAC. She's also second in points (3.83).
  • In the assists department, Brelee Mauldin is slotted seventh, averaging 5.81 per set.
  • Remarkably, the last time SNU beat the green and gold in Bethany was Nov. 7, 2019 by a 3-1 tally.
