Williamson, Sheffield Spur Bison to 2-2 Draw

CLAREMORE -- Oklahoma Baptist and Rogers State battled to a 2-2 draw Saturday afternoon at Soldier Field in Claremore, Oklahoma, in a match defined by timely goals and relentless second-half pressure.

Rogers State struck first in the 40th minute when substitute Elle Beaulieu made an instant impact, slotting home the opening goal to give the Hillcats a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

Despite Oklahoma Baptist holding a 10-5 shot advantage in the first period, RSU goalkeeper Calais Butts kept her side in front with several key saves.

The Bison equalized early in the second half, as Sam Sheffield broke through in the 54th minute with a low shot that found the back of the net. Rogers State responded in the 73rd minute when Delana King converted off an assist from Amber Arnold to restore the advantage at 2-1.

But Oklahoma Baptist refused to back down. In the 81st minute, Lex Williamson capitalized on a pass from Annabelle Joski to bury the tying goal, sealing the 2-2 final. Williamson and Sheffield combined for 13 of OBU's 20 shots, while the Bison forced nine saves from Butts.

Goalkeeper Jolee King faced just three shots on target for OBU, conceding twice and making one save. The Bison earned five corners to Rogers State's six, while both teams finished with double-digit fouls in the physical contest.

With the draw, Oklahoma Baptist moves to 0-3-3 on the season, while Rogers State sits at 0-2-3. Both sides remain in search of their first win as they prepare for conference play.

For the Bison, they'll visit Northwestern Oklahoma State on Sept. 24 at 6 p.m.
