SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist's second home match of 2025 comes on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 2 p.m. when the Texas Woman's Pioneers come to the OBU Soccer Complex.
OBU is 0-2-1 and coming off a 2-0 home defeat to Northeastern State. The Pioneers are off to a hot start, having won each of their first three matches by 4-0 tallies. In series history, this matchup has brought a 3-3 record with matches dating back to 2016. For Texas Woman's, it has won the last two matches in Shawnee by 3-0 (2023) and 1-0 (2019) tallies.
Here are notes on both teams ahead of Saturday's contest.
Bison Notes
- OBU's offense is off to a slow start. In terms of the Great American Conference, they are tied with East Central for fewest goals scored (1).
- Junior Hali White scored that goal in the matchup with then-18th ranked Angelo State last week. That was her sixth career goal.
- Newcomer Addison Gray has attempted the most shots (5) on the team while a total of five players have notched two on-target attempts: Gray, Annabelle Joski, Camden Ocheskey, White and Ashley Bell.
- Maya Thornburg has accrued the most minutes played so far this fall. The 5-foot-8 defender from Richardson, Texas has played in all but six minutes of the previous matches (264 minutes total).
- In goal, both Jalen Cramer and Jolee King have gotten action. For King, she's started all three matches and notched six saves on 26 shots faced.
- As for Cramer, who entered in the previous contest after King got hurt, she has faced 10 shots, not conceded a goal in 48 minutes of action and registered three saves.
- Following Saturday's match at home, the Bison will be on the road for their next three.
Pioneers Notes
- As noted above, TWU has scored 12 goals so far. That's tied for fifth in the nation.
- The Pioneers also rank 39th in the country averaging 8.67 shots on goal per game.
- Overall, Texas Woman's is outshooting its opponents on average 11.3 to 3.3 per contest.
- Four Pioneers have scored a team-high two goals: Alyssa Striker, Giselle Gutierrez, Gianna Antovoni and Ailyn Oliveros.
- Plus, Striker and Jaida Arizmendi each have two assists to lead TWU.
- Fifth-year goalie Amanda Farris is TWU's leader in net. A season ago, she was the Lone Star Conference's Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year and ended up earning All-Region and All-LSC honors
- This fall, Farris has not conceded a goal in 195 minutes of action.
- Of note, Farris hasn't seen many shots come her way thanks to her defense. In fact, Texas Woman's has only allowed eight shots on goal through three matches.
