OBU Baseball sweeps Southern Nazarene to close out regular season play

BETHANY, Okla.. - Bison Baseball finishes the season strong and completes the sweep as they collect two wins on the road against the Crimson Storm.

Oklahoma Baptist Baseball bounces back this weekend after dropping their previous five outings.

After an offensive show in a 12-7 win in Game 2 of the series, OBU rallied in the sixth inning to get past SNU in Game 3 by a score of 6-3.

Game 2

OBU started off fast in the second inning with a two-run homerun. After SNU answered with a home run of their own, the Bison pushed their lead out to 5-1 thanks to a three-run homerun in the third. The Bison bats stayed hot throughout pushing across seven more runs along with two more home runs. The Crimson Storm collected 10 hits and scored seven runs, but it wasn't enough to keep pace with OBU.

Marcus Peters (W, 5-1) struck out 11 SNU hitters on the day. He tallied 6.0 innings pitched to finish with seven hits allowed and five runs (earned).

Matt Marsic went 2-5 on the day with a homer and a triple. He also finished with a pair of RBI.

DJ Van Atten had three hits. One of which being a homer and also had an impressive 4 RBI.

Zane Bennett went 1-5 on the day with a homerun.

Spencer Dickinson had two hits to go along with a walk on the day. He homered and drove in three runs.

Javarian Roquemore had an efficient 2.0 innings today to close things out.

Game 3

In the series finale, the Bison scored three runs in the top of the third to erase a 0-2 deficit. With a 3-3 tie game in the sixth, OBU pulled off an impressive two out rally that sent seven more batters to the plate that resulted in a 6-3 lead. The Bison pitching held strong from there on out as they held that 6-3 score the rest of the way through for a victory.

DJ Van Atten went 3-4 in the game with a double and two RBI.

William Ellis (W, 2-4) picked up the win with 1.0 innings pitched and two strikeouts.

Bryant Thorton started and lasted 3.0 innings striking out three while allowing 3 runs (two earned)

Austin Gonzales had two hits in the contest while scoring two of the Bison's runs.

Matt Marsic had a hit in the game and drove in two runs.

Keenan Morris scored, had a hit, and had an RBI in the win.

The last regular season sweep for the Bison came over a month ago, when OBU took all three games as the host in the series against ECU March 7-9.
