Bison Softball dominates Tigers in Game 1 Friday night

SHAWNEE - OBU Softball destroys Ouachita Baptist offensively in five-inning beatdown Friday evening.

Oklahoma Baptist defeated the Tigers in the opening game of the series with a big 14-3 win over OUA. 

In the first frame of action, the Tigers got to work with a pair of runs coming across for their biggest inning of the game. In the bottom of the second inning the green and gold got to work with six runs totaled to gain a four-run lead over the visitors. The third inning saw one-run come across for both teams. In the bottom of the fourth inning the Bison compiled seven runs to down the Tigers by 11 runs for a 14-3 total that saw the green and gold take Game 1 in five innings. 

The Bison totaled 14 runs on 14 hits with one error while Ouachita Baptist finished with three runs on six hits with three errors. 

Sammie Greene and Ally Ryan each had homers for Oklahoma Baptist while Kaylee Davis and Greenlee Wells each tacked on doubles for the home team. Kaley Cook had the lone stolen base for OKB. 

The green and gold totaled 12 RBI. Greene went 2-4 at the plate with four RBI and two runs scored. Cook went 2-3 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored. Davis finished .500 at the plate (1-2) with one RBI, Morgan Max finished 1-3 with one RBI, Wells was 2-4 with one RBI and two runs scored, Nichelle Marshall went 1-1 at the plate with one RBI and Payton Bragg went 1-1 with one RBI and one run scored. 

Jaycee Shaffer (W, 11-1) claimed the win after another complete game. In 5.0 innings on the mound, Shaffer gave up three earned runs on six hits, walking two batters and striking out nine. 

The green and gold will see a doubleheader to close out the series with the Tigers with the first pitch set for noon and the series finale to follow.
