SHAWNEE – Bison Women's Basketball are set to close out regular season play with a weekend of split action starting at Southeastern Oklahoma State Thursday and ending GAC play in Noble Complex Saturday against East Central.
Oklahoma Baptist Women's Basketball gear up for the final weekend of the regular season as the Bison are set to face the Savage Storm and the ECU Tigers.
The green and gold will face SE Thursday with a 5:30 p.m. tip off and will host East Central on Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m.
Bison Notes
- OBU had an incredible performance in their most recent win over the Ouachita Baptist Tigers, 91-76. The Bison totaled 19 threes', the second most in program history, right behind the school record of 20 achieved back in 1998. The shots from the arc take the cake for in the Division II Era for Oklahoma Baptist. The win over the Tigers also sees the Bison totaled the most wins since the 2014-2015 season, claiming the most wins since becoming a D2 program.
- The battle of the OBU's saw several offensive leaders take control, including Mackenzie Crusoe, Katelyn Davis, and Jaedyn Getman. Leading the charge with 19 points, Crusoe went 5-8 from the three, Davis went 3-5 from the three and Getman went 4-5 from the three.
- The green and gold are 18-8 overall and 14-6 in conference play. A three-game winning streak follows the Bison into the matchup with Southeastern with wins over NWOSU (67-51), Henderson State (66-61) and Ouachita Baptist (91-76).
- The Bison hold the second-best offense in the league and sit fifth defensively ranking third marginally. OBU leads the conference in threes made with a total of 243 to average 9.3 per game. The green and gold also lead in team free throw percentage at 82.9%. OBU also leads in blocked shots (4.65 per game) and assists (13.58 per game).
Savage Storm Notes
- The Savage Storm is also 18-8 in overall action and sit at a 15-5 mark in conference play. After winning five back-to-back games, Harding defeated SE in the most recent matchup ending in a 68-46 final in favor of Harding.
- Caitlin Kobiske is the leading scorer for the Savage Storm averaging 17.6 points per game with a total of 457 points this season. Kobiske is shooting 46.8% from the field, 40.9% from the three and 83.6% from the line. #15 for SE has totaled151 rebounds to lead the team, 43 assists, 25 steals and five blocks.
- Holli Lindley is another big contributor for the Savage Storm with 21 blocks and 44 steals to lead the team in both categories. Lindly is 42.3% from the field, 30.3% from the three and 80.7% from the line. #30 averages 4.8 rebounds per game and has totaled60 assists on the season.
- SE ranks third in the league in threes made at 6.9 per game. The Savage Storm is second in team free throw percentage at 81.2%. Southeastern is also ranked fourth in team defensive rebounds with 25.2 per game.
Tigers Notes
- Prior to the Thursday night meeting with SWOSU, the Tigers are 10-14 overall and 8-12 in conference play. ECU split the most recent week of action with a four-point loss to Harding (60-56) on Friday and a win over Arkansas Tech Sunday (64-44).
- Katie Edelen leads the Tigers in points per game averaging 14.0 with 337 points, prior to the SWOSU game. Edelen also leads the team in steals with 28 on the season. #15 for ECU is 40.1% from the field, 36.0% from the three and 79.7% from the line.
- Chloe Malone is the team leader in blocks (21) and rebounds (128). Malone is shooting 38.8% from the field, and 50% from both the three and the line with only two three pointers attempted this season.
- The Tigers sit in third place in team three-point percentage at 32.8%. ECU is also fourth in rebounding margin at 1.7. In all other statistical standings, the Tigers sit in the lower half of the rankings.
