Bison Preparing for Southwestern, Southeastern

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist (5-3, 1-1 GAC), coming off a long trip to Arkansas, is back in state this week with contests at Southwestern Oklahoma State and home matchup with Southeastern on Dec. 11 and 13, respectively.

SWOSU (2-5, 0-2 GAC) is coming off a 71-63 loss at Arkansas Tech, its fourth straight loss. As for Southeastern, they are 3-5 and 0-2 in GAC play after falling at Ouachita, 82-74. In series history, the Bison trail SWOSU 19-4 and are 1-10 in Weatherford. As for the Savage Storm matchup, that series is a close one, with SE leading 11-10.

Bison Notes
  • Turnovers and missed shots plagued OBU in its four-point loss at SAU.
  • The team committed 23 turnovers, its most this season.
  • OBU also made six of 26 shots from deep, a season-low 22.2 percent mark.
  • Despite some struggles, OBU is still a potent team on a few fronts.
  • They rank fifth in the country, averaging just 12.4 turnovers per game. OBU is also 19th nationally in free throw percentage (79.4).
  • The Bison also have a pair of top-30 NCAA marks in three-point attempts per game (26.4) and three-point percentage defense (23.4).
  • Individually, Jaedyn Getman is fourth in D2 in scoring (23.0) and No. 24 with three double-doubles.
  • Getman also has a whopping 17, top-10 statistical marks in the GAC including ranking first in free throws (42) and field goals (63).
  • Freshman Jordyn Anderson has provided a huge lift recently. She scored 40 points last week and made 15-of-19 (78.9) from the field.
Lady Bulldogs Notes
  • SWOSU has one significant advantage so far: blocking. They rank No. 19 in the nation and first in the GAC with a 4.9 per-game average.
  • The team's only other top-55 NCAA total is field goal percentage defense (35.9).
  • Offensively, Southwestern is 11th in the GAC in scoring offense (60.6) and 12th in free throw percentage (62.6).
  • The Lady Bulldogs rank either 11th or 12th in the conference in 11 different categories.
  • Landry Allen is Southwestern's top scorer at 15.0 points per game. She also leads in rebounds (48) and blocks (26).
  • She was named the GAC Defensive Player of the Week on Dec. 8.
  • Also of note, Payten Conde, a former OBU player, has a team-high 25 assists and averages 35.6 minutes of playing time, the most by a SWOSU player.
Savage Storm Notes
  • Southeastern is on a three-game losing streak.
  • They make 8.8 three-pointers per game, the 21st-best total in Division II.
  • SE is a quality free throw shooting team, hitting 79.9 percent. That's No. 12 in the nation.
  • Defensively, the Storm foul a lot, committing 21.4 per game. This category ranks 261st out of 290 D2 teams. Plus, they allow 73.9 points. That's slotted 239th.
  • Tori Kilburn leads the offense with a 17.0 scoring average (4th; GAC) and is first with 42 made freebies.
  • Kilburn also ranks second in the GAC with a 54.1 field goal percentage.
  • Kenzli Warden is hitting a team-high 87.1 percent from the foul line and is pulling down a team-high 6.0 rebounds per contest.
