SHAWNEE -- Oklahoma Baptist, ranked No. 23 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, will end 2025 with a GAC road game at East Central on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
The Bison are 9-1 overall and 3-1 in Great American Conference play while the Tigers bring a 4-5 overall mark and 0-4 GAC record into Thursday night's contest in Ada.
OBU has won the last two matchups in this series and six of the last nine games. Todd Miller and Dave Myrick will be at Kerr Activities Center to broadcast on KGFF. Below are notes on the two teams.
Bison Notes
- The green and gold won twice last week over Southwestern Oklahoma State and Southeastern.
- Terry Coner Jr. was named GAC Offensive Player of the Week in the process after averaging 22.5 points per game.
- The junior from Birmingham needs only six points to reach 1,000 for his career.
- OBU's offense has been very impressive to date. It ranks first in the GAC averaging 78.9 points and is slotted 33rd in D2 in field goal percentage (49.1).
- Plus, the Bison pull down 14.2 offensive rebounds per game. That's No. 2 in the GAC and 34th nationally.
- Helping that cause is freshman Christian Hodge. The GAC Defensive Player of the Week pulls down 2.4 offensive rebounds per game. That's No. 5 in the conference.
- Senior Joshua Udoumoh is having a fine final campaign on Bison Hill. He ranks within the top-10 of the GAC in six categories including fifth with 61 field goals.
Tigers Notes
- ECU has lost four in a row coming into Thursday's game. Included in that streak was an 88-80 overtime loss to No. 3 Southern Nazarene.
- Two things stick out most about the Tigers: assist-to-turnover ratio and defending the three-point line.
- The team's 1.36 ratio is tops in the GAC and they are third giving up 28.6 percent to opponents from downtown.
- Redshirt sophomore Jaden Miller has been a factor early this season.
- He's second in team scoring (10.0) and his 58 assists are 14th nationally and lead the GAC.
- Rustin Coffey leads the team in points (103) while Race Herr has a team-high 10 blocks. That's a top-five league total.
