BETHANY –
Tiare Hermosilla's second-half penalty kick lifted Oklahoma Baptist to a 1-0 win over Southern Nazarene on Wednesday at the Wanda Rhodes Soccer Complex.
After a scoreless first half, which didn't include too many opportunities for either offense, the Bison broke through in the 56th minute.
The setup was initiated by senior
Ashley Bell who passed into the box. A streaking
Lex Williamson was then collided into by SNU goalie Gianna Bonnett. The head referee then issued a penalty kick which Hermosilla converted into the right corner. That was her third goal of the season. Hermosilla ended up with two shots on goal, as did
Sam Sheffield, to lead the Bison attack.
Goalkeeper
Jalen Cramer was outstanding in goal, recording four saves to earn the shutout — her second of the year. The Crimson Storm pressed late, outshooting OBU 12-7 in the second stanza, but Cramer and the Bison defense held firm to preserve the clean sheet.
Both sides finished with 15 total shots, while OBU managed seven shots on target to SNU's five. The Bison also edged the Crimson Storm 2-1 in second-half corner kicks.
With the win, Oklahoma Baptist improved to 2-10-5 and 2-7-2 in the Great American Conference. On Saturday, Nov. 8, the Bison will close out their 2025 campaign with an 11 a.m. match at Southwestern Oklahoma State.
