SHAWNEE — Oklahoma Baptist continued conference play in dominant fashion, sweeping Arkansas–Monticello (25–16, 25–16, 25–23) inside the Noble Complex. The win improved the Bison to 15–6 overall and 7–2 in Great American Conference play.
Oklahoma Baptist came out strong against UAM, showing rhythm and control from the first serve. The Bison hit .319 as a team while holding the Blossoms to a .210 percentage. Plus, the hosts dominated statistically, leading in kills (50–36), blocks (7–0), digs (52-49), and aces (3–1).
OBU showcased a balanced offensive effort, with multiple players contributing at the net. Freshman
Lillian Noble led with seven kills on a .583 hitting percentage, while
Ellie Gehrke and
Emily Kate Jones followed closely with six kills apiece. Junior
Morgan Hamel also added five kills and three block assists.
Setter
Emily Boyer directed the offense efficiently with 23 assists and eight digs, while
Ady Horn contributed 12 assists of her own. Defensively,
Shelby Jabour led the back row with 14 digs, and
Elle Parisi chipped in with five.
The match provided valuable court time for several OBU freshmen, showcasing the team's depth and future potential. Noble, Gehrke, Jones, and
Madi Barnes all recorded strong offensive numbers. Parisi emerged as a potential bright spot for the Bison defense, while newcomers
Ada Ingvardsen and
Sophia Warren also added key contributions defensively and at the service line.
Set One (25–16): OBU came out strong, registering 19 kills on a .341 attack mark to take command early. Consistent ball control and a balanced offense allowed the Bison to build momentum from the start.
Set Two (25–16): The Bison maintained their rhythm in the second set, hitting .344 while limiting the Blossoms to just 10 kills. A late six-point scoring run helped OBU pull away and secure the win.
Set Three (25–23): UAM made a late push in the final set, but Oklahoma Baptist remained steady under pressure. With timely kills in the final moments, the Bison were able to secure the sweep.
The green and gold return to action on Thursday, Oct. 23, traveling to face Henderson State in Arkadelphia, Arkansas at 6 pm.
