Bison Women’s Basketball continues win streak with road victory over Arkansas Tech

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist Women's Basketball posts a 6-1 conference record after taking down the Golden Suns on the road. 

The Bison opened up the new year's road run with a 64-58 win at Arkansas Tech. 

A competitive contest between the Bison and the Golden Suns saw four lead changes and four ties throughout 40 minutes of action. 

Oklahoma Baptist totaled 40 bench points, 24 points in the paint and 20 points off turnovers. The green and gold tallied 36 rebounds, 14 assists, three blocks and nine steals. The Bison saw their strongest outing from the field in the second frame, going 7-14. In the final quarter, OBU shot 75% from the three and 75% from the line. 

Katelyn Davis led the scoring efforts for OBU with 16 points, matching her career high from earlier this season. In her second consecutive game leading the Bison, the freshman went 6-13 from the field, 3-7 from the three and perfect from the charity stripe. Davis also added a block and a steal for the green and gold. 

Sierra Copeland and Jill Leslie put in work for the Oklahoma Baptist defense with Copeland leading the team with 10 rebounds and three steals. Leslie added two blocks and three rebounds for the visitors. 

In her first season with OBU, Allie Rehl earned a new season high in points with 11 on the evening. The freshman went 50% from the field and 50% from the three.

The win over ATU brings the overall record for OBU to double-digit wins at 10-3 and the conference total to 6-1. 

Next up for the green and gold is a 1 p.m. meeting with Harding in Searcy, Arkansas, on Saturday, Jan. 11.
