OBU Basketball Arkansas bound to take on Southern Arkansas and Arkansas Monticello

SHAWNEE – Bison Women's Basketball is set to face Southern Arkansas and Arkansas Monticello for this weekend's action.

The green and gold will take on Southern Arkansas Thursday evening with a 5:30 tip-off time in Magnolia. Following Thursday's game, the Bison will face Arkansas Monticello Saturday at 1 p.m.

Bison Notes
  • In the most recent week of action, the Bison split the week with a 1-1 record with a loss to Southern Nazarene in Bethany (63-56) and a victory on Bison Hill Saturday night with an 83-52 final.
  • Payten Conde pulled off her best collegiate performance against SWOSU with an impressive 6-6 from the three, and 6-7 from the field. The sophomore totaled 18 points, two blocks, seven rebounds and five assists. 
  • Katelyn Davis continued her standout streak against the Bulldogs going 3-5 from the three, 3-7 from the field and 2-2 from the line. With 11 points on the evening, Davis added three rebounds, two blocks and one assist.
  • On Jan. 18, Jaedyn Getman earned a spot in the 1,000 points club after the game against Henderson State. 
  • The most recent game for OBU saw the Bison go 50.8% from the field, 48.3% from the three and 87.5% from the line. The green and gold totaled 32 points in the paint, 19 points off turnovers, 23 fast break points, and 27 bench points. 
  • At 9-3 overall and 13-5 in conference play, the Bison are third in the league. The OBU defense is ranked third in the league offensively and fourth defensively, placing the green and gold in second place marginally. Oklahoma Baptist is ranked first in threes made (172), first in blocked shots (83), fourth in team three-point percentage (33.5%), second in team free throw percentage (81.7%), and third in assists per game (13.72).
Mulerider Notes
  • SAU is 9-9 overall and 4-8 in conference play. A loss to Henderson State sees the Muleriders coming into Thursday's matchup with a one-game losing streak. The four conference wins for SAU come against Arkansas Monticello (68-66), ECU (70-58), Arkansas Tech (81-70), and Ouachita Baptist (64-58).
  • In the previous matchup with Oklahoma Baptist, the Bison hosted the Muleriders and ultimately overtook SAU with a 64-57 final in Noble Complex. 
  • Major contributors for the Muleriders include Tequaza Chambers, Addy Tremie, Marlee Bright, Elena Lijo-Rodriguez and a several others. Rodriguez is eighth in the league in rebounding with 112 total rebounds on the season to average 6.2 per game. Rodriguez also leads the conference in field goal percentage at 54.4%. Chloe Wilbanks is ranked third in three-point percentage at 45.8%. Tremie ranked third in three-points made with 36 on the season to average two per game. Bright is the league's leader in assists with 102 on the season, averaging 5.7 per game. Rodriguez is ranked third in blocked shots at 1.8 per game, while Bright is ranked first in steals at 3.8 per game.
  • The Southern Arkansas offense is ranked fifth in the league and the Mulerider defense sits in second placing the blue and yellow in third marginally. SAU is first in team field goal percentage at 44.5%. The Muleriders rank fourth in team three-point percentage at 33.5% and fourth in threes made at 6.4 per game. SAU leads the conference in assists (15.11 per game) and steals (10.22 per game).
Blossom Notes
  • UAM is 9-9 overall and 4-8 in conference play prior to Thursday's matchup against Southern Nazarene. The most recent win for the Blossoms came from a 63-60 win in overtime against Arkansas Tech. 
  • In GAC action, the four wins were against Ouachita Baptist (76-69, OT), Arkansas Tech (62-55), East Central (59-53), and the most recent win over the Golden Suns. 
  • Key players for UAM include Bailey Harris, Alindsey Long and Camille Pritchard.
  • Harris is the leading scorer for UAM at 267 points on the season to average 14.8 per game. Harris is 42.3% from the field, 26.7% from the three and 70.5% from the line. #4 for the Blossoms is also the leader in steals (27) and blocks (9). Harris earned a season high of 25 points back in November against Baptist Bible (MO). Harris also tabbed new season high in steals that month with four against Arkansas Baptist. Harris has a season high of three blocks against SWOSU on Jan 18.
  • Long is the second-best scorer for UAM with 141 points on the season. Long is arguably the most dangerous from the three with 25 on the season, shooting 32.1%. From the field, Long is 56-149 and shooting 44.4% from the line. #15 for the Blossoms has tallied 20 steals and six blocks. Against Southern Arkansas, Long went 4-8 from the three for a new season high and earned her season high in steals against Ouachita Baptist with four on the evening. 
  • Arkansas Monticello is ranked fifth in team offensive rebounds with 12 per game on average. The Blossoms are also ranked fourth in the league in steals at 9.06 per game.
