Southern Nazarene Dominates OBU

BETHANY – Within the first media timeout at the Sawyer Center, Southern Nazarene had set the tone for the entire night, and eventually claimed a massive 88-62 win over Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday.

SNU improved to 13-2 overall and remained in first in the Great American Conference with a 10-1 mark. As for the Bison, they fell to 11-6 and 8-3 in the league.

By the 15:57 mark of the opening half, the hosts had built a 15-5 advantage. Three of their shots were from downtown. And that paved the way for a dominating first half performance.

The Crimson Storm turned in a blistering first 20 minutes, shooting 63.6 percent from the field, 53.3 percent from deep and made 4-of-5 at the foul line. Alternatively, the Bison were nowhere near the hosts. The green and gold were 9-of-30 from the field, a 30-percent mark and just 2-of-16 (12.5%) from downtown. By halftime, SNU had built an incredible 54-20 lead.

In the first half, SNU's Stevie Strong and James Burries had outscored OBU with 13 and 10 points, respectively. For the Bison, Ricky Strong scored seven to lead the team. Also of note, SNU had a plus-seven rebound advantage (21-14) and committed five less turnovers (9-4).

By the end of the night, Southern Nazarene led for 38:59 of the game and shot 50 percent overall and had eight players score at least six points.

The Bison were led by Daniel Ransom who tallied 15 points. He made 4-for-9, hit a trio of threes and was perfect at the foul line (4-4). Plus, Brown finished with 12 while TJ Strong added nine points and four rebounds.
