OBU Women’s Basketball take on Southern Nazarene and SWOSU for weekend action

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist looks to maintain their momentum on the road after going 2-0 at home last week.

The green and gold are set to face the Crimson Storm on the road Thursday evening for a 5:30 p.m. tip off. Saturday's slate will see the Bison go head-to-head with the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. in Noble Complex. 

Bison Notes
  • A pair of wins last week over Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist earned the green and gold their 12thoverall win this season, matching up to last season's total wins. 
  • Oklahoma Baptist took down the Tigers with a 68-56 final. The Bison secured a 75-56 win over the Reddies to close out the week's play with a perfect 2-0 mark.
  • In the most recent week of play, Mackenzie Crusoe earned the GAC Offensive Player of the Week title after averaging 21.5 points per game with a total of 43 on the week. Crusoe shot 55.6% from the field, 50% from the three and 100% from the line also contributing 10 rebounds, two steals and one block. Crusoe remains third in the league in scoring with 16.9 points per game. At 74-87 from the line, the Choctaw, native, is fifth in the GAC in free throw percentage at 85.1%. Crusoe is fourth in assists per game in the league at 3.5 and sixth in steals at 1.8 per game. 
  • The game against Henderson State saw Jaedyn Getman welcomed into the 1,000 points club after compiling five points on the night to bring her career total to 1,001. 
  • Katelyn Davis has been a standout player for the Bison in her freshman season at OBU. Davis has compiled 151 points while maintaining a perfect 23-23 record at the line. The Choctaw, native, is shooting 46.3% from the field and 40% from the three, ranking her seventh in conference in percentage from the three. Davis is also sixth in threes per game at 1.8, tied with her teammate Crusoe. 
  • Jill Leslie and Sierra Copeland represent the Bison in blocked shots amongst league members with Leslie ranked fourth at 1.4 and Copeland ranked fifth at 1.1. 
  • The green and gold are first in the league in three's made at 152 on the season to average 9.5 per game. The Bison also lead in team free throw percentage at 83.3% going 184-221. OBU is also the GAC leader in blocked shots with 73 on the season to average 4.56 per game. 
Crimson Storm Notes
  • Southern Nazarene is 11-5 overall and 8-2 in conference action. The Crimson Storm heads into the matchup with the Bison on a three-game win streak after taking down Arkansas Tech (66-55), Henderson State (63-41), and Ouachita Baptist (64-45).
  • Hannah Giddey is a front runner for the Crimson Storm with 248 points on the season to lead the SNU scoring efforts. With an average of 15.5 points per game, Giddey is 50% from the field (113-226), and 51.2% from the line at 22-43. The 6'2 forward also leads the rebounding efforts for SNU with 156 rebounds on the season averaging 9.8 per game and ranking first in the league in rebounds. #5 for the Crimson Storm has totaled 38 blocks on the season to lead Southern Nazarene and rank first in the GAC in the category. 
  • Umi Otsuka is another big contributor for SNU with 155 points on the season. Otsuka sits at 38.1% from the field, 29.6% from the three and 77.8% from the line. #1 for the Crimson Storm has the second most steals for SNU with a season total of 20. 
  • Southern Nazarene has the number one ranked defense in the league with 892 points to average 55.8 per game. SNU is second in the league behind Oklahoma Baptist in blocked shots at 4 per game with a total of 64. 
Bulldog Notes
  • The Bulldogs are 9-7 overall and 5-5 in conference play. A two-game win streak will see SWOSU into their Thursday night matchup with NWOSU. The most recent wins for the Bulldogs come from a 55-47 win over Southern Arkansas and a 63-48 win over Arkansas-Monticello. 
  • In the previous meeting between the Bulldogs and the Bison, OBU went to SWOSU for a competitive battle that lasted till the final seconds, ending in favor of the home team, 62-60.
  • Averi Zinn is the leading lady for the Bulldogs, heading the scoring efforts at 186 total points to average 11.6 per game. Averi Zinn has 50 assists, 29 steals ranking fifth in the league at 1.8 per game, 56 rebounds and is 36.6% from the field, 27.5% from the three and 80.4% from the line prior to the Bulldogs meeting with NWOSU. 
  • Haley Grant is another key contributor for SWOSU with 15 blocks on the season. Grant has totaled 151 points to average 9.4 per game, 15 steals, and 70 rebounds. Grant is 54-142 from the field, 11-39 from the three and 32-38 from the line. 
  • SWOSU is ranked third in the conference in steals at 9.38 per game. The Bulldogs are also ranked fourth in the GAC in team free throw percentage at 79.2%.
