Olson Helps Lead Bison’s Effort at OU

NORMAN – Oklahoma Baptist's Lauren Olson posted a personal-best mark in the shot put on Friday as the Bison women's track and field team competed at the University of Oklahoma's Owen Hewett Invite.

The junior placed third overall with a heave of 12.02 meters (39' 5.25"). That topped her previous mark set on Dec. 7, 2024 at Washburn's Alumni Invite (11.23m).

OBU also earned a third-place mark in the high jump courtesy of Jamora Horace. The junior reached 1.69 meters to secure the Bison's next-best finish.

Following the efforts of Olson and Horace, senior Anisha Henderson dialed up fourth in the long jump event. The Plano, Texas native jumped 6.05 meters to secure OBU's other top-four mark. At the conclusion of the day's events, Henderson's jump was the second-best in the country.

Rounding out the Bison's top finishes, Valerie Olson placed sixth in the long jump (5.37m) while Jade Byrd earned the same placement in the weight throw event (14.27m). Furthermore, Altyn Bartley claimed seventh in the shot put (12.21m).

Next week, on Jan. 24, the Bison will return to Pittsburg State to compete at the Rumble in the Jungle Invitational.
