SHAWNEE – The green and gold are back in Noble for some weekend action against the Tigers Thursday night and a midday meeting with Henderson State Saturday.
The Bison make their return to Bison Hill looking to keep a perfect record at home. Thursday night will see Oklahoma Baptist face Ouachita Baptist at 5:30 p.m. Next, the Reddies from Henderson State will head to Shawnee for a 1 p.m. matchup at Noble Complex.
Bison Notes
- Oklahoma Baptist fell short of victory in their most recent matchup against Harding after a hard first quarter. The second and third quarters saw OBU outscore Harding and the final quarter saw an even 20 points for both teams. The final score sat in favor of the home team at 73-62.
- Mackenzie Crusoe led the scoring efforts for the green and gold in the most recent outing. Crusoe totaled 13 points, one steal, one block, three assists and five rebounds.
- In recent weeks, Katelyn Davis has been a standout player for the Bison, leading the team in scoring on several occasions. The game against Harding saw Davis tally 11 points going 3-8 from the field, 3-5 from the three and perfect at the line. The freshman also contributed one assist, one block and two rebounds. In the last week of action, Davis totaled 27 points, two blocks, one steal and three rebounds in just un 55 minutes of play. The Choctaw, native, shot 42.9% from the field, 50% from the three and 100% from the line.
- Jill Leslie also had an impressive outing with nine points, going 4-6 from the field, and 1-3 from the three. Leslie totaled seven rebounds, two and two blocks. The last week of action saw Leslie compiled 10 rebounds and four blocks. Leslie shot 62.5% from the field, and 33.3% from the three.
- In the latest regional poll, OBU earned a spot amongst the top 10 in the central region, ranking ninth with a 10-4 overall record. The Bison are 6-2 in conference play, placing second in the league.
- The green and gold lead the GAC in threes made per game at 130 on the season to average 9.3 per game. OBU also leads the conference in team free throw percentage at 83.5%, going 167-200. The Bison are also ranked in blocked shots, taking second with an average of 4.14 per game totaling 58 on the season. OBU is also third in assists at 13.64 per game, just shy of the 200 mark at 191 in total.
Tiger Notes
- Headed into Thursday night, the Tigers are 7-5 overall and sit at 3-5 in conference play. With a five-game win streak at stake, Ouachita Baptist has secured wins over Arkansas Tech, Northwestern Oklahoma State University and Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
- Madeleine Tipton leads the Tigers' scoring efforts with 158 points to average 14.4 per game. Averaging 29.5 minutes per game, Tipton is shooting 44.3% from the field, 35.6% from the three and 80.8% from the line.
- Abbey Harrison is a defensive leader for Ouachita Baptist with 10 blocks on the season, 10 steals and 42 rebounds. Harrison has compiled 112 points, going 46-86 from the field to rank second in the league and 20-31 from the line, averaging 9.3 points per game.
- Heidi Robinson is another key player for the Tigers, leading the team in assists with 33 on the season. Robinson has totaled seven blocks, five steals and 39 rebounds. With 111 points on the season to average 9.3 per game, Robinson is shooting 51.2% from the field, 48.5% from the three to rank second in the GAC and 64.7% from the line.
- The Tigers are first in team three-point percentage (41.1%), second in team field goal percentage (45.4%), third in team defensive rebounds (26.9), second in rebounding margin at 8.9 averaging 28.4, and second in assists with an average of 15.92 per game.
Reddies Notes
- Henderson State is 6-8 overall and an even 4-4 in conference play. The most recent week of play saw the Reddies split the week with an 89-83 loss to SWOSU and a close 72-69 win over Northwestern. Prior to the meeting with the Bison, Henderson State will face Southern Nazarene for Thursday night action in Bethany.
- Prior to Thursday's game, Brynlee Huggins is the scoring leader for Reddies and third in the GAC with a total of 230 points to average 16.4 per game. Huggins has totaled seven blocks, 15 steals, 21 assists and 49 rebounds.
- Bobbi Bazzle is a key force for the Reddies with 14 blocks to lead the efforts for Henderson State. Bazzle has added 98 rebounds, seven steals and 56 points in 309 minutes in the court so far this season.
- Another big defensive contender for the Reddies is Makenna Winans with 110 total rebounds, leading the category for Henderson State and ranking fifth in the league. Winans has compiled 10 blocks, eight steals and eight steals, with a total of 47 points on the season.
- Henderson State ranks third in the league in team three-point percentage at 34%. The Reddies are also third in combined team rebounds averaging 39.3 per game. In team defesnvie rebounds, Henderson State falls in fourth place at 26.8 per game.
