Bison, Jennies Battle to Scoreless Draw

SHAWNEE - No. 4 Central Missouri and Oklahoma Baptist played to a 0-0 draw in a great fight at the OBU Soccer Complex on Saturday.

Both teams had ample opportunities but were unable to capitalize on their chances. Central Missouri outshot Oklahoma Baptist 14-13, with seven of their shots on goal, compared to five from OBU.

Bison goalkeeper Claire Stoermer played a key role in the shutout, her first, making seven saves. UCM's Kristen Wright stood strong in net as well, stopping five attempts.

The first half saw limited offensive action, with Oklahoma Baptist slightly edging Central Missouri in shots (5-4). Both teams' defenses stood firm, with Stoermer making a crucial save against UCM's Izzy Joyce early on. Bison senior Alanna Bloomingdale was active on offense, firing four shots, though none found the back of the net.

In the second half, Central Missouri ramped up the pressure, taking 10 shots compared to eight for the hosts. Caroline Cole led the charge with four attempts for the Jennies, including a dangerous effort saved by Stoermer in the 58th minute. Despite the increased intensity and four corner kicks in the second stanza, Central Missouri couldn't break through.

There was a bit of physicality in the match, with yellow cards issued to Mikayla Ernst and Hali White, as the match remained tough throughout. With the result, Central Missouri moved to 3-2-1 on the season, while Oklahoma Baptist moves to 1-3-1.

Next on the schedule for OBU is another home match, this time against GAC foe Southwestern Oklahoma State on Sept. 25 at 6 p.m.
