Bison host Central Oklahoma for home opener Tuesday

SHAWNEE – Bison Volleyball is officially back in action in Noble Complex Tuesday night to take on the Central Oklahoma Broncos at 7 p.m.

After opening up the regular season in Pensacola, Florida, at the SpringHill Suites Invitational, the ladies in green and gold are ready to hit the ground running back in Bison territory for the first time in the 2024 campaign. 

Bison Notes
  • OBU Volleyball was picked to finish first in the Great American Conference in the Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • The green and gold are coming into the 2024 season as the reigning GAC Conference Tournament Champions and the regular season co-champions. 
  • The 2023 season saw a 22-9 overall finish for the Bison with a 13-3 conference record, closing out the season with an appearance at the NCAA Tournament Central Region Quarterfinals. 
  • Junior, Karsyn Hunter was selected as the GAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week in the opening week of action of the 2024 season. The libero for the Bison earned a new career-high with 28 digs in a single match. Hunter went on to compile 73 digs over four matches to average 5.62 digs per set to lead the conference.
  • Head Coach Anna Howle is a couple of wins shy from amassing her 400th career win. 
  • Prior to the first regular season match, the green and gold made their way to Norman to take on the Sooners of OU for an exhibition. Bison Volleyball pulled off possibly the biggest upset in OBU history, taking down the newest SEC members. 
  • The Bison are coming into the home opener with a 2-2 overall record after a 3-0 win over Spring Hill College, a 3-1 win over Wheeling and a pair of losses at the SpringHill Suites Invitational.
 
Bronco Notes
  • UCO was picked to finish second in their conference in the Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • The Broncos are 4-0 on the season after opening the season at the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational in San Angelo, Texas. 
  • Senior, Katie Le, was named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week after totaling 86 digs over four matches to average 5.73 per set. 
  • The Broncos are ranked amongst the top 25 in the nation, sitting at 23rd in the country.
