WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Oklahoma Baptist made quick work of Southwestern Oklahoma State (12-24, 8-13 GAC) in Friday's series opener as they blanked the Bulldogs 8-0 in five frames.
The Bison (26-10, 18-2 GAC) brought in four runs in the third inning before tacking on three more in the fifth to secure its fourth consecutive shutout victory. Additionally, it is the sixth time OBU has run-ruled an opponent this season.
Morgan Max's bat started the day as a double down the right field line scored the game's first run. Then, in the third, Ally Ryan blasted her 12th home run of the year to put OBU up 2-0.
Fireworks resumed in the third frame when a Cassidy Morrow sacrifice fly scored one before Adi Reese brought around a run on a single. Next, a Sammie Greene walk unloaded the fourth run of the stanza, good for a 5-0 Bison cushion.
Oklahoma Baptist put the finishing touches on its fourth straight win with a couple more jacks, courtesy of Reese and Greene, and a walk in the fifth inning.
Kayleigh Jones recorded her 14th win after fanning six and allowing three hits across 4.0 frames. Jaycee Shaffer came in as relief and struck out three without giving up a hit in one inning.
Reese turned in a 3-for-3 outing, which included her second home run of the season and two RBI. Max was 2-for-2, boosting her multi-hit game total to a team lead of nine. Greene also accounted for a couple of RBI.
