Bison Take Two Over Reddies

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist dealt Henderson State back-to-back run-rule losses in Friday's doubleheader inside Bison Softball Park, clinching its 18th consecutive Great American Conference series victory.

OBU (36-11, 26-3 GAC) outscored the Reddies (20-27, 11-18 GAC) 19-0, besting HSU 9-0 in the inaugural contest before taking game two 10-0. It is the first time the Bison have run-ruled a conference opponent in back-to-back games on the same day in school history (DII era).

GAME ONE

A two-run first inning kick-started OBU's offensive onslaught, courtesy of an Emily Adler ground out and Ally Ryan single. Then in the third, Ryan unloaded the bags with her 17th home run of the year, pushing the Bison lead to 4-0.

The feat tied the program's record for home runs in a single season.

A few batters later, Samantha Campos blasted a moonshot over center before Adi Reese brought two across home plate on a double for an eight-run advantage.

Campos' bat rang true again in the following inning, as a single brought E. Adler in for a ninth score.

Kayleigh Jones (18-4) allowed three hits through 4.0 frames while collecting three strikeouts and walking a batter. Olivia Cummings came in to secure the victory at the top of the fifth and surrendered one hit.

Reese, Ryan, and Campos had two-hit outings, while Sammie Greene extended her reached base streak to 15.

GAME TWO

The Reddies held the Bison sluggers off until the second inning when a Sydney Adler ground out scored Kennedy Clark. Then OBU erupted for nine runs on eight hits in the next frame, with two scores sent in on HSU miscues.

Ryan plated two on a double to start the sprint while Max singled, and Hailey Stanford scored on a wild pitch to put the Bison up by five runs.

S. Adler registered her second RBI of the game on a sacrifice fly before Sammie Greene, E. Adler, and Stanford trickled in the final scores.

Maggie Place (15-6) recorded her 15th victory after fanning five and giving up two hits with one walk in 5.0 frames.

Ryan turned in another two-hit appearance alongside Greene and E. Adler. Greene added a stolen base, one of two on Friday.

NEXT UP

OBU and the Reddies will wrap up the series with a single game tomorrow, set to begin at noon inside Bison Softball Park.
