SHAWNEE – This coming July, our Oklahoma Baptist women's basketball team will be the lone representative from the United States during the 2024 Fo Guang Cup University Basketball Tournament in Taiwan.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our program," Head Coach
Bo Overton said. "We'll get to represent the USA and Oklahoma Baptist on a world stage. And for our players, this will be extremely beneficial for us as we get to practice and play with our new team members and returners leading into the 2024-25 season."
The tournament, which will be played at Kaohsiung Arena, runs from July 23-28. Teams from Australia, Japan, Malaysia and more will be in attendance.
Competition will be between eight teams divided into two groups in a single, round-robin format. At the end of the preliminary rounds, the top two teams from each group will advance to semifinals and finals while the remaining teams play for fifth through eighth place.
Over the course of the next few months, OBU, its players and support staff will be looking for donations to help fund this incredible trip. Those that help contribute, will be recognized as an OBU Women's Basketball Donor.
