No. 10 Storm Upend Bison, 75-53

BETHANY – Southern Nazarene made a season-high 13 three-pointers during a 75-53 victory over Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday at the Sawyer Center.
 
The Bison fell to 9-14 overall and 6-11 in the Great American Conference with the result.
 
Key Leaders What Went Right
  • OBU generated fairly consistent offense in the first half. They made 48 percent from the field as Large went 3-for-3. Plus, Getman made 4-of-7 for nine points.
  • Leslie's interior defense. The junior posted five blocks in the first half. She did a great job on SNU's Hannah Giddey who scored just two points on 1-of-6 shooting.
  • The Bison also had a 12-6 points in the paint advantage in the first half.
  • There were just 12 turnovers for the green and gold, including only three in the second half. 
What Went Wrong
  • SNU's three-point shooting. Five different Storm players made deep shots including six by Abbie Jiles. By game's end, the hosts made 13-of-26 (50%) from downtown.
  • In the first half, OBU got eight Storm turnovers including six steals. However, they only scored two points off them. Alternately, the Storm turned nine Bison miscues into 12 points.
  • Keeping pace. In the fourth quarter, the hosts outscored the Bison 21-12 and pulled away. SNU made both 53 percent from the field and 50 percent from three.
  • Rebounding. The Storm held a plus-11 margin in this category (33-22). They outscored OBU 16-1 in second-chance points in the process.

  • The Bison return to action on Feb. 17 at 5:30 p.m. inside the Noble Complex against Northwestern Oklahoma State.
